Topper Travelers Programs

Do you have a passion for world travel and a love for great music?  Do you long for cultural engagement with students and other members of the WKU Family?  Do you wish for an opportunity to immerse yourself in different cultures and experience firsthand the power of symphonic music?  As WKU continues in its quest to become A Leading American University with International Reach, we seek to awaken the spirit of adventure in our most supportive alumni and friends!

It is our pleasure to extend to you an invitation to join The Symphony at WKU for a concert tour of China.  The Symphony will present three concerts on this 15-day tour, which will include performances at the North China Electric Power Universities in Beijing and Baoding as well as Hebei University.  Observe Dr. Ching-Yi Lin, WKU’s Concertmaster and member of our Violin Faculty, as she presents a master class at the famous Xi’an Conservatory for Chinese students.  Explore the rich culture of China with WKU faculty, students, and lifelong learners on this adventure of a lifetime.   Join The Symphony as we present WKU’s finest musicians on the international concert stage.  We are pleased to partner with the WKU Topper Travelers program, the Confucius Institute, and our partner universities in China to offer this once in a life-time experience to our most engaged alumni and friends.

The itinerary will take you from modern Beijing to the historic and beautiful Xi’an, China’s capital for 11 dynasties spanning over 4,000 years.  You will have the opportunity to visit Shanghai, the Forbidden City, the Terracotta Warriors, a Silk factory, and of course, the Great Wall – one of the Seven Wonders of the Medieval World!  Each day will hold new and exciting adventures.  As musicians from our partner universities join forces with The Symphony, you will experience first-hand the power of music and realize why it has long been considered the true universal language.

As you might imagine, space is limited, so we ask that you confirm your place as soon as possible.  Your children and grandchildren of all ages are welcome.  Please click on the link below for additional details about the trip.  Don’t miss this opportunity to see China as few visitors ever do and personally engage in the realization of WKU’s vision.
