Dedication of the Augenstein Alumni Center (AAC)

Michael Dale Augenstein, a 1981 WKU graduate and native of Owensboro, Kentucky, embodied the WKU Spirit from his first days on the Hill. As a student, Dale held leadership positions in Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity, worked on campus and cheered on the Hilltoppers as a WKU Yell Leader. Following graduation, he became a successful businessman and entrepreneur in the Southeast, hiring and mentoring WKU students as an integral part of his operations.

As an alumnus, Dale served WKU in numerous volunteer capacities while proudly waving his Red Towel at countless University events across the globe. Dale’s zeal and commitment to WKU led to his term as President on the WKU Alumni Association in 2011-2012, during which time he also served as chairman for the Alumni Center Building Campaign and provided inspirational financial support to ensure this home for all alumni became a reality. In recognition of his unwavering dedication to the institution, WKU presented Dale with the 2012 Distinguished Service Medal, the highest honor bestowed upon any WKU volunteer.

The Augenstein Alumni Center stands as a testament to Dale’s passion for all things WKU and to his belief that becoming a Hilltopper is a lifelong journey of spirit, pride and dedication.

Dedicated April 12, 2013.
