Looking to get involved with your alma mater? 

The Young Alumni Council (YAC) provides an opportunity for young alumni to maintain ties to WKU and provides important feedback to the Alumni Association on programming. The focus is to educate young alumni about the programs, services and mission of the WKU Alumni Association. Connecting young alumni to WKU and each other is YAC's primary goal. YAC consists of members who have graduated within the last 10 years. We seek to represent the rich diversity of both our student and alumni bases.


 

NOMINATION PROCESS:

Fill out the form below to nominate yourself or a fellow alumnus for Council consideration. Nominations are due by March 15, 2024. Current Young Alumni Council members will evaluate and select the FY 25 cohort. Council members will begin their service on July 1, 2024, and will serve a two-year term with the option of a third year.

In addition to the application, each nominee will be required to provide additional information including:

  • LinkedIn profile link
  • Informational interview with the Associate Director of Alumni Engagement of the WKU Alumni Association to be completed before April 1, 2024 that will conclude with applicant recording a 1-2 minute video sharing why you would like to be a YAC member.

Upon completion of the nomination form below, applicants will receive a confirmation email outlining next steps. 

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Recent WKU graduate (within the past 10 years)
  • Participation on 1 Young Alumni Council Workgroup (monthly meeting via Zoom)
  • Ability to serve 2 consecutive years on the Young Alumni Council with the option for a third year
  • Are a current Annual or Lifetime member of the WKU Alumni Association & maintain membership during time of service
  • Willing to support the WKU Alumni Association's mission and engagement efforts
  • Commit to attending quarterly meetings with the ability to attend at least 3 of the 4 quarterly meetings in person
  • Participation in active partnership with WKU Alumni Association Board of Directors

CONSIDERATIONS: YAC membership is open to all WKU alumni who have graduated within the last 10 years regardless of age or degree level. We encourage our newest graduates and those in graduate/pre-professional programs to consider their bandwidth and ability to fully participate given the nature of the transition years from student to young professional and the rigor of pre-professional programs.
