What is “Growing Up Red?”
The Western Kentucky University Alumni Association launched the "Growing Up Red" Legacy program for younger generations of Hilltoppers in Spring 2006. This program allows children to learn more about WKU as they receive their own personalized red towel, measure their growth at an early age against a Big Red Growth chart, carry their Big Red backpack to school, and start saving for college in their Big Red piggybank. The cornerstone of the program is the exclusive storybook, Big Red’s Spirited Adventure, which tells the story of Big Red and his friends looking for the WKU Spirit.
WHO CAN JOIN?
The program is exclusively for children and grandchildren of WKU Alumni Association members.
As a Growing Up Red member, a child will receive:
Upon membership and regardless of the age, each child will receive the exclusive Growing Up Red storybook, Big Red’s Spirited Adventure, and a personalized membership card.
In addition to Big Red’s Spirited Adventure, the member will receive a gift (according to the age upon membership) in the following age ranges.

AGE 2-4 “Growing Up Red” Growth Chart
Age 5-6 “Growing Up Red” Back Pack that includes a “Good Luck” note for children starting school
Age 7-9 “Growing Up Red” Piggy Bank that includes a note about saving for college
Age 10-12 “Growing Up Red” T-shirt and athletic ticket voucher
Age 13-15 WKU Sweatshirt
Age 16 WKU Car Decal/Driver’s Education Class on Campus
Age 17 Focus on WKU Event and potential scholarship opportunities
