Western Wisdom Mentoring Program

The Western Wisdom program is designed to connect students and alumni together with similar interests, whether it is by major, activity, or organization, and use that common bond to foster a relationship between two people who have a passion for something involved at WKU. Here is more about the program.

Benefits of Becoming a Mentee
• further professional career development
• concrete opportunity for growth and guidance
• opportunity to participate in strong networking experience
• build a circle of friends and professional contacts within and outside the institution
• receive honest criticism and informal feedback
• obtain a perspective on long-term career planning, and professional issues
• receive individual recognition and encouragement

Benefits of Becoming a Mentor

• opportunity to participate in a service activity at WKU
• provide an inside view of a profession
• obtain the satisfaction of helping others
• share knowledge and expertise that a student might not otherwise receive in the classroom
• assist in the improvement of the university's sense of community

Guidelines

• Mentor and Mentee must be in contact at least three times throughout the semester
• contact can be in person, through e-mail, or during a day of shadowing at the mentor's job
• Mentors and Mentees will complete an evaluation form to provide feedback on the success of the match and to offer input for the program
