SpiritFunder celebrates first three campaigns
SpiritFunder, WKU’s crowdfunding platform, has completed its first three campaigns. The initial campaigns included “Support the WKU Storm Chase Student Experience,” “Big Red Needs a New Suit,” and the “New Gift Challenge: Hardcastle Adopt-A-Class Scholarship Fund.” Wrapping up on May 18, the campaigns raised a total of $17,734.06 with 139 donors contributing across the three campaigns. More than 30 first-time donors to WKU were identified through the crowdfunding platform. Regardless of whether or not a campaign reached its fundraising goals, all funds raised go to support the campaign initiative.
“We are excited about how the first campaigns concluded, and we are looking forward to launching the next round of campaigns in the fall semester,” said Jenny Pyle, Associate Director of Leadership Annual Giving. “The launch of the crowdfunding platform created fresh engagement opportunities within our community as alumni and friends connected to support exciting current projects on campus.”

Western Kentucky University is excited to announce that SpiritFunder, WKU’s very own crowdfunding platform, launched on Monday, April 17, 2017! Crowdfunding is a unique tool that harnesses energy and enthusiasm and allows alumni, friends, students, faculty, and staff to make a collective impact on our community.
Projects featured on SpiritFunder will come directly from WKU students, groups, and faculty who are looking for more opportunities to learn, grow, and achieve. Whether through research, community outreach, entrepreneurship, or student projects, crowdfunding is a way to get big ideas in front of the world.
Even small gifts can make a huge difference. Choose to support the projects that matter most to you, contribute what you can afford, and help recruit others. SpiritFunder is the next great way to share your WKU Spirit!
