WKU Panhellenic Council makes gift to enhance Greek scholarships

WKU’s Panhellenic Council recently voted to make additional gifts to their three scholarship funds: United in Sisterhood Scholarship for Greek Women, Panhellenic New Member Academic Scholarship and the Panhellenic Association Pillars Scholarship Fund. This gesture comes a year after the Council made a contribution to help these funds reach endowment level so each scholarship could begin supporting students.

The scholarship funds, which are housed in the College Heights Foundation, were all established at different points in time by women involved in the WKU Greek community. The WKU Panhellenic Council gifted an additional $9,000 to their scholarship endowments, which provide three annual scholarships to Greek women at WKU. The scholarships were awarded for the first time during the 2018-2019 application cycle.

“We’re all so proud to have further enhanced these scholarships so that they can have long-lasting effects for Panhellenic women in the near future and for years to come.” said Caroline Simpson, a senior from Bowling Green, Ky., who served as the 2018 Panhellenic Council Treasurer.

“We are pleased to partner with the Panhellenic Council and applaud their efforts to pay it forward to other Greek women at WKU,” said Dr. Donald Smith, President of the College Heights Foundation.

“As a recipient of the Panhellenic New Member Academic Scholarship, I can say that it was really meaningful to have the support of Panhellenic in my academic endeavors,” shared Maddie Sennett, a sophomore from Louisville, Ky., who is the incoming Panhellenic President. “I look forward to seeing how these scholarships impact other women as well.”

“It has been such a rewarding process creating these scholarships, and seeing them grow even more is a great end to my time as the Scholarship Director for Panhellenic,” said Yasmine Sadrinia, a senior from Somerset, Ky. “I know the future Council is going to do a great job continuing the work we’ve done.”

“I’m so proud of our Panhellenic women,” said Drew Rash, Coordinator Greek Life. “These scholarships were endowed last year, and they have made a tradition of adding to each of the three Panhellenic scholarships. This is a perfect investment, as it directly helps women within the Panhellenic community.”
